How does investing work?
A guide to help you better understand how investing with Shuttle works.
What Shuttle does at a high-level
Shuttle allows you to invest in exclusive venture capital opportunities - a world typically reserved for the ultra-wealthy. We built Shuttle to solve the issues stopping 99% of people from participating in the venture capital asset class - Time, Knowledge, Network, and Net-Worth.
What happens when you join?
When joining, every customer is provided their own account on the platform. This account is topped up for every ‘drop’ with an amount of your choosing via bank transfer. This is your investable capital and is held in segregated accounts, safeguarded by our regulated payment service provider.
Once your account is created and your subscription is paid, you will have access to view any open investment opportunities available. These can be found on your dashboard or from the opportunities page.
We operate in a low volume/high quality manner, meaning we take our time to find the best possible opportunities. Because of this, there will not always be open opportunities to invest. Instead, we release 'drops', or groups of investments every few months.
How we source investements
We're constantly working to forge relationships and grow our network of investment partners, made up of venture capital funds, angel investors and startup founders. Through this network, we source, screen and diligence the highest quality opportunities, alleviating the time, knowledge and network barriers that have kept so many people out of participating in this asset class.
We only source opportunities in venture-backed startups, where at least one VC fund is investing and leading the round.
What you see
We then present a small number of opportunities (1-3) to the community once they’ve completed our multi-stage screening and due diligence phase and met the platform requirements. Every opportunity is accompanied by a detailed memo on why it's been chosen for our community. We aim to group investments to help users build a diverse portfolio quicker than if they were investing in one opportunity at a time.
How you invest
When new opportunities are available, they'll be visible from your dashboard or the opportunities page. From here you can open each opportunity and read through the accompanying memo, deck and Key Investor Information Sheet.
A member confirms their participation by clicking the 'commit' button beside the new opportunities, and the funds in their account are evenly distributed across the sourced opportunities in the group or 'drop'. The details of your ownership stake, including the number of shares you own and their price, will then be available on your portfolio page.
